The influence of yarn fiber volume fraction, shear angle, and yarn spacing on crack propagation resistance of plain‐woven fabric‐reinforced epoxy composites

This study investigated the effect of fabric parameters on crack propagation in plain-woven e-glass reinforced epoxy composite plates. Through numerical analyses, contributes to understanding structure and adopting a more precise approach design materials. The yarn fiber volume fraction, shear angle, spacing were selected as variables for fabric, material properties determined each parameter using homogenization method. A finite element model was created Ansys software package, stress intensity factors (SIFs) tear values obtained under mode I loading investigate effects propagation. results showed that fraction ratio increased, SIF decreased T-stress increased. When evaluated according angle yarn, lowest value 0-degree angle. same observed well. Additionally, compared aligned along X-axis, significant decrease occurred due perpendicular density increase direction with symmetric orientation.
